Founding Engineer

About the role

Atlabs covers a lot of ground for a small team: an editor, agents that plan a film from one line, a pipeline that runs 50+ AI models, and the backend that ties it together. This role isn't tied to one layer. You'll pick up the problem that matters most right now, build it end to end and keep it running. Doing it well means shipping often and making sound calls on scope and trade-offs without waiting to be told.

What you'll do

• Ship features end to end, from the database and APIs to the screens creators use.
• Build and improve the pipeline that runs script, image, video, voice and music models in the right order.
• Bring new AI models into the product the week they launch.
• Turn rough product ideas into a plan, a first version and then something users rely on.
• Own the speed, reliability and cost of what you build once it's live.
• Help shape how we build: code review, architecture decisions and who we hire next.

What you'll bring

• Strong engineering across the stack, and products you've shipped that people use.
• Depth in at least one area, such as backend systems, frontend or applied AI, and the willingness to work well outside it.
• Good judgement on scope: you know what to build properly and what to ship rough and revisit.
• Comfort taking a problem from a vague brief to production without a detailed spec.
• Care for the people using the product. You use what you ship.
• Clear writing, and the ability to explain a trade-off to anyone on the team.

Bonus points

• You've been an early engineer at a startup, or built and run a product on your own.
• Experience with LLMs, or image and video models.
• You've worked on a creative platform or tool, such as an editor or design app.
• You make videos, animation or music yourself.
